Germany to Hungary by car: the e‑vignettes for each way there
Germany charges a car nothing, so the bill starts at the first border. From Berlin, Leipzig or Dresden the motorway runs south through Czechia and Slovakia; from Munich, Nuremberg or Cologne it runs through Austria. Pick the way you drive and buy every e‑vignette on it at once.

The drive
Three e‑vignettes on this line, and the Slovak one is the easiest to forget, because the D2 from the Czech border at Kúty to the Hungarian border at Rajka is barely an hour of driving. Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary all register the e‑vignette to the plate, so nothing goes on the windscreen and all three can be bought before you leave home.
Through Austria
€50.14
Via Passau, Linz, Vienna and the Nickelsdorf crossing. You need 2 e‑vignettes, Austrian and Hungarian.

The drive
Two e‑vignettes, Austrian and Hungarian. Drivers from Munich reach Austria at the Walserberg near Salzburg, drivers from Nuremberg, Frankfurt or Cologne at Suben near Passau, and both lines meet on the A1 before Vienna, then follow the A4 to Nickelsdorf and the M1 to Budapest. No tunnel or section toll sits on any of it, so the two e‑vignettes are the whole bill.
Costed for a return trip that leaves one day and comes back 7 days later, so the destination is covered for all 8 calendar days and every country on the way is crossed twice. A longer stay moves a country to a longer e‑vignette and changes the total: the planner works out your own dates.
