The Hungarian e‑vignette (e-matrica)

Yes. You need an e-matrica to drive on Hungary's motorways. It applies to foreign-registered vehicles exactly as it does to Hungarian ones, and enforcement is automatic and camera-based.

Hungary's e‑vignette is fully digital and linked to your licence plate, so there is nothing to display in the windscreen. The plate and the country of registration you give us must match the vehicle exactly.

Hungary prices in forint. We show the official forint price alongside the euro amount we charge, so you can always see what the road operator actually charges.

Questions drivers ask

How do I buy this e‑vignette online?

Confirm the licence plate and registration country, choose one of Hungary's four lengths, and give us your billing address, which NÚSZ requires before payment. Pay by card and we register the e-matrica; we only confirm it is active once that registration is done, never before.

Why do you need a billing address for a Hungarian e‑vignette?

Because NÚSZ will not accept payment for the e-matrica without one on the order. It has nothing to do with where you live day to day: it is a condition the Hungarian operator sets on the purchase itself, so checkout collects it before you can pay.

Which length should I choose?

The 10-day for a typical holiday, the monthly from roughly two separate trips upwards, and the annual for anything covering most of the e‑vignette year. Unlike Austria's longer products, Hungary's monthly can start the very day you buy it.

Can I buy today and drive today?

Yes, for every length Hungary sells. Validity starts at the day, hour and minute of the purchase itself, with none of the waiting period Austria applies to its longer e‑vignettes, so the time on your confirmation is the time that counts.
