Everything clear before you set off

Via Cologne, Munich, Villach, the Karawanks tunnel, Zagreb and Zadar.

You need 2 e‑vignettes, Austrian and Slovenian.

Croatia has no e‑vignette: its motorway tolls are paid at the toll booth, and we do not sell those.

Costed for a return trip that leaves one day and comes back 7 days later, so the destination is covered for all 8 calendar days and every country on the way is crossed twice. A longer stay moves a country to a longer e‑vignette and changes the total: the planner works out your own dates.

The countries you cross, in order

  • the Netherlands

No vignette and no motorway tolls for cars. The Westerschelde tunnel charges separately.

  • Germany

No vignette and no motorway tolls for cars.

  • Austria

    €21.75
  • Slovenia

monthly e‑vignette, covering the 2 days you are in the country

    €44.80
  • Croatia

Motorway tolls are charged per section and paid at toll stations or by transponder.

No vignette is needed in the Netherlands and Germany. Croatia charges tolls on the road instead of a vignette.

Tolls the e‑vignette does not cover

the Tauern and Katschberg tunnels
The A10 between Salzburg and Villach charges a separate toll for its two tunnels, paid at the barrier.
the Karawanks tunnel
The A11 tunnel into Slovenia charges a toll at the portal that neither the Austrian nor the Slovenian e‑vignette covers.

These are paid at the barrier on the day and are not part of the total above.

The drive

Split is another 400 kilometres past Zagreb on the A1, the longest tolled run in Croatia and the largest single road charge on this drive. The ticket is taken at Lučko on the edge of Zagreb and paid at Dugopolje above Split. Plan the Croatian toll as cash on the day; the two e‑vignettes and the Austrian tunnel tolls are what you settle before you leave.
