The Slovenian e‑vignette (e-vinjeta)
Yes. Slovenian motorways and expressways require an e-vinjeta for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes, including foreign-registered ones. It is digital and linked to your licence plate.
There is no 1-day option. The shortest Slovenian e‑vignette is 7 days, which matters if you are only transiting the country.
For vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes, use DARS's official vehicle lookup to confirm class 2A or 2B. A motorhome qualifies for 2A regardless of front axle height only if its living equipment is fixed and permanent and its approved conversion is recorded in the vehicle documents. Registration alone or removable equipment is not enough.

How do I buy this e‑vignette online?
Confirm the licence plate and registration country, then choose one of the three lengths Slovenia sells for a car: 7 days, a month or a year. There is no 1-day option, so the week is the shortest, and a motorcycle gets 6 months in place of the month. Pay by card and we register the e-vinjeta with DARS. We only confirm it is active once that registration is done.
Which length suits a short crossing?
The 7-day e‑vignette, because it is the shortest Slovenia sells: an hour on a Slovenian motorway and a week of driving cost exactly the same. There is no cheaper legal way to use the tolled network for less time than that.
How far ahead can I set the start date?
Up to 30 days before you travel. The start date can be set to any day within 30 days of your purchase (DARS, checked 29 August 2026), so a trip a month away can be paid for now, but a summer holiday booked in spring cannot yet.
Does the length I choose affect the vehicle class?
No. The duration does not change your vehicle class. Check DARS's official vehicle lookup for class 2A or 2B. A motorhome up to 3.5 tonnes qualifies for 2A regardless of front axle height only when its living equipment is fixed and permanent and its approved conversion is recorded in the vehicle documents. Choose the length that covers your trip.
