Tolls the vignette does not cover
- the Tauern and Katschberg tunnels
- The A10 between Salzburg and Villach charges a separate toll for its two tunnels, paid at the barrier.
- the Karawanks tunnel
- The A11 tunnel into Slovenia charges a toll at the portal that neither the Austrian nor the Slovenian vignette covers.
These are paid at the barrier on the day and are not part of the total above.
The drive
The Karawanks tunnel is paid twice on a return trip, to two different operators. Going south it is an ASFINAG section toll; coming home it is a DARS toll of 9 euro for a car, paid at the Hruลกica toll station on the Slovenian side, and the Slovenian e-vignette does not cover it (DARS, checked 24 September 2026). Add the Tauern tunnels on the A10 in both directions and a return trip carries four tunnel charges on top of the Austrian and Slovenian vignettes.
