Croatia
Motorway tolls are charged per section and paid at toll stations or by transponder.
No vignette is needed in the Netherlands and Germany. Croatia charges tolls on the road instead of a vignette.
Tolls the vignette does not cover
- the Tauern and Katschberg tunnels
- The A10 between Salzburg and Villach charges a separate toll for its two tunnels, paid at the barrier.
- the Karawanks tunnel
- The A11 tunnel into Slovenia charges a toll at the portal that neither the Austrian nor the Slovenian vignette covers.
These are paid at the barrier on the day and are not part of the total above.
The drive
Istria is reached through Slovenia rather than past Zagreb, so the Slovenian vignette does more work here than on most drives to Croatia: from the Karawanks tunnel through Ljubljana and down the A1 towards Koper, around 180 kilometres. The Croatian part is not the national network but the Istrian motorway, run by the concession company Bina Istra, with toll plazas at Umag and Pula (Bina Istra, checked 24 September 2026). Coming in from Rijeka instead adds the Uฤka tunnel, which Bina Istra also charges.
