Everything clear before you set off

Via Cologne, Frankfurt, Munich, Innsbruck, the Brenner pass and Trento.

You need 1 e‑vignette, Austrian.

€21.75

Italy has no e‑vignette: its motorway tolls are paid at the toll booth, and we do not sell those.

Costed for a return trip that leaves one day and comes back 7 days later, so the destination is covered for all 8 calendar days and every country on the way is crossed twice. A longer stay moves a country to a longer e‑vignette and changes the total: the planner works out your own dates.

The countries you cross, in order

  • the Netherlands

No vignette and no motorway tolls for cars. The Westerschelde tunnel charges separately.

  • Germany

No vignette and no motorway tolls for cars.

  • Austria

10-day e‑vignette, covering the 2 days you are in the country

    €21.75
  • Italy

Motorway tolls are charged per section and paid at toll stations or by transponder.

No vignette is needed in the Netherlands and Germany. Italy charges tolls on the road instead of a vignette.

Tolls the e‑vignette does not cover

the Brenner motorway
The A13 from Innsbruck to the Italian border charges its own toll at the barrier, on top of the e‑vignette.

These are paid at the barrier on the day and are not part of the total above.

The drive

Lake Garda is reached from the north on the A22, which runs down from the Brenner through Trento to Affi. The Austrian part of the drive is short and unavoidable: an e‑vignette for the Inntal motorway, then the Brenner toll at the barrier. Drivers who make this trip every summer should price Austria's two-month e‑vignette against two ten-day ones before deciding.
