The drive
This way to Sofia runs south of Hungary, through Slovenia and along the Croatian A3 to the Serbian border at Bajakovo, so it takes a Slovenian vignette where the route through Budapest would take a Hungarian one. Croatia and Serbia both charge by distance at barriers. On the Austrian leg the Pyhrn motorway adds its two tunnel tolls; the line through Vienna and Budapest avoids them, and which of the two costs less depends on how long each vignette has to last.
