The drive
Bruges is a popular day trip and weekend break from the Netherlands, and the drive down through Antwerp and Ghent is entirely free of charge today, on both the Dutch and the Belgian motorways. That is scheduled to change: the three Belgian regions agreed in July 2026 on a vignette for cars from 2027, linked to the plate, still awaiting sign off from the Council of State and a European compatibility review. Until then, this two hundred and sixty kilometre run costs nothing beyond fuel.
