Romania rovinieta Euro class checker

Order 888/2026 sets four price rows for a car, in lei including VAT. These are the official amounts; you can pay them direct to CNAIR or an authorised distributor. Our Romanian rovinieta price page shows what we charge with our service fee.

V.9 is the environmental category of the type approval (Directive 1999/37/EC). It often names the EU act the car was approved under, then a character, rather than saying Euro 6 in words. On a German certificate it always does: the registration office guide gives the form 715/2007*692/2008A. If yours does say Euro 5 or Euro 6 in words, that is the class.

For a car from 2009 on, 715/2007 is the Euro 5 and Euro 6 regulation, the second number is the act that implements it, and the character after it is the answer. Characters from one letter up to ZZ are in the table of Regulation 692/2008; two-letter characters such as AP or EA are in the table of Regulation 2017/1151. On its own, 715/2007 covers both Euro 5 and Euro 6, which are two different price rows.

For an older car, 70/220 is the framework directive and the act after it says which limits applied. From 98/69 on, a trailing A means row A of its limit table (Euro 3) and B means row B (Euro 4).

If V.9 holds only a dash, no class was recorded. Look in the certificate of conformity, the document the registration office copies V.9 from, before you accept the Euro 0 price. The guide to finding your car's Euro class covers German field 14 and the electric rule.

Copied from Table 1 of Appendix 6 to Annex I of each regulation, as consolidated on EUR-Lex. A row for vans and lorries gives the Euro stage, but a van pays the category B rovinieta, not these car prices. ZZ and AZ mark an approval based on UN certificates and name no stage.

Each act below amends Directive 70/220/EEC, by its own title on EUR-Lex. Some only adapted it to technical progress or new Member States and set no limits of their own; for those the table gives the stage the directive stood at. Euro 0 to Euro 3 cost the same, so for an older car only the line between Euro 3 and Euro 4 changes the price. An act not in this table leaves the stage open, and the checker says so.

Each date is when the act stopped new cars below that stage from being registered in the EU. It is a floor: a car approved early can be cleaner, a Member State could still register an exempted vehicle, and an imported used car keeps the class it was built to. Diesel and petrol share the dates. Cars with more than six seats or over 2,500 kg came later for Euro 1 and Euro 2, cars over 2,500 kg got an extra year for Euro 3 and Euro 4, and vehicles designed for specific social needs, such as wheelchair-accessible cars, got until 1 January 2012 for Euro 5.

An electric car pays the electric price whatever its age, when field P.3 shows an electric power source (Order 888/2026). A hybrid keeps a combustion engine, so it pays by its Euro class.

Choose the class your papers state at checkout. A rovinieta registered for a cleaner class than the car's is not the valid one for it (Law 226/2023), so a lower row saves nothing at a check. Buy from our Romanian rovinieta options, or direct from CNAIR at the official price.
