Do motorcycles need a vignette in Bulgaria?

The Road Infrastructure Agency states that the vignette fee is not due for vehicles with fewer than four wheels, alongside wheeled tractors and registered agricultural and forestry machinery (checked 1 September 2026). Engine size, weight and country of registration make no difference to it.

A two-wheeled motorcycle and a three-wheeled trike both fall outside the charge. A four-wheeled quadricycle does not, because it fails the only test the rule applies.

Ride on without buying anything, and ignore any site offering to sell you a Bulgarian motorcycle vignette.

This is a rule about Bulgaria and it says nothing about the countries a rider crosses to reach it. Several of them charge motorcycles at their own rate and enforce it in their own way.

Check each country on your route separately rather than carrying the Bulgarian answer across the border with you.

A support car or a second vehicle in the group is charged normally, whatever the bikes are doing. The Bulgarian e-vinetka options page lists the periods and what each one costs.

Buy for the car alone and leave the motorcycles off the order entirely.
