Czech vignettes for motorhomes, caravans and trailers
Which Czech toll does a motorhome, caravan or trailer need?
A motorhome or towing vehicle with a maximum permissible weight up to 3.5 tonnes needs one e-vignette for charged motorways unless it qualifies for an exemption. A trailer or caravan needs no separate e-vignette, even when the combination exceeds 3.5 tonnes. A motorhome whose own permitted weight is over 3.5 tonnes uses the electronic toll system instead.
Read the towing vehicle's registration certificate
Czechia uses the motor vehicle's maximum permissible weight, not the loaded weight on the travel day. The decisive figure is on the registration certificate and the e-vignette limit is 3.5 tonnes (Czech public administration portal, checked 31 August 2026).
If the towing car or motorhome is at or below that limit and uses the standard rate, choose one Czech e-vignette for its plate before entering a charged motorway. Check eDálnice instead if its fuel or use may qualify it for a reduced rate or exemption.
A trailer does not need its own e-vignette
Attaching a caravan or trailer can take the combination above 3.5 tonnes without changing the e-vignette decision for a lighter towing vehicle. The state portal says the trailer's weight does not alter which time charge the towing vehicle uses (checked 31 August 2026).
Register only the towing vehicle's plate. Do not place a second order for the trailer or caravan registration.
A motorhome over 3.5 tonnes moves to MYTO CZ
A category M1 motorhome whose own maximum permissible weight exceeds 3.5 tonnes does not use an e-vignette. It must be registered in the Czech electronic toll system and pays distance-based tolls on the roads that system covers (Czech public administration portal and MYTO CZ, checked 31 August 2026).
Set up the MYTO CZ account and onboard unit before the trip. Do not buy one of our e-vignettes for that heavy motorhome because it would not settle the correct toll.
