Bulgarian e-vignette validity: when each period starts and ends

When does a Bulgarian e-vignette start and stop being valid?

It starts on the date you choose, and that date can be the day you buy it or any day within the following 30 days. Bulgaria sells five periods that run from your chosen start, plus a weekend product fixed to one particular weekend.

Five periods that run from a date you pick

Bulgaria sells 1-day, 7-day, 30-day, 3-month and annual e-vinetki for a vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes, which is a finer range of periods than most of Europe offers. Each one runs from the start date you choose.

The three-month product is the one worth knowing about, because few countries in Europe sell a quarterly period at all. A stay of six or eight weeks is cheaper on it than on two monthly ones.

Work out the last day you will use a charged road, then buy the shortest period that reaches it.

You can set the start up to 30 days ahead

The buyer may give as the starting date the day of purchase or any date within the next 30 days from the date of purchase (Road Infrastructure Agency terms and conditions, checked 1 September 2026). Buying early therefore costs nothing in lost days.

Set the start to the first day you expect to drive a charged Bulgarian road, not the day you leave home in another country. A driver coming from northern Europe often loses two days of a weekly product by dating it from departure.

The weekend product is a fixed window, not a start date you choose

The weekend e-vinetka costs 6.60 euro and covers one named weekend rather than any two days you like (Road Infrastructure Agency product picker, checked 1 September 2026). That is why it is not in our range and the daily product is.

Buy the weekend product straight from the Road Infrastructure Agency if your trip genuinely falls inside that window. If it does not, the 1-day e-vinetka product is cheaper still for a single crossing.

Check the register, not your inbox

The Road Infrastructure Agency publishes a check by registration number, and it is the only confirmation that means anything: the e-vinetka exists as a record against your plate and nowhere else.

Run that check after any purchase, ours included, and run it again before a return leg. Buy another period only if the register does not already cover the dates you need.
