Czech HGV toll over 3.5 t: MYTO CZ unit, rates and campers

Every figure below is from myto.gov.cz, the electronic toll portal run for the Road and Motorway Directorate, read on 24 September 2026.

• Who pays: vehicles with at least four wheels over 3.5 tonnes maximum permissible weight, including buses and campers, and fast tractors over 3.5 tonnes.
• Where: specified sections of motorways and first-class roads.
• 2026 motorway rate for a vehicle of 12 tonnes or more with five or more axles, EURO VI, CO2 class 1: CZK 5.9644 per km. The lightest class, 3.5 to 7.5 tonnes with two axles, EURO VI: CZK 0.8220.
• Device: an on-board unit lent against a deposit, issued only with at least CZK 1,000 of prepaid credit.
• Vignette: not needed. The Czech e-vignette is for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes.
• Fines: the portal lists the offences but publishes no amounts.

The toll applies to a vehicle with at least four wheels whose maximum permissible weight is over 3.5 tonnes. The toll portal answers the camper question directly: under Czech law a caravan or camper over 3.5 tonnes must be registered as a truck, not a bus. A bus is a vehicle over 3,500 kg registered as M2 or M3, as a bus, or for ten or more people, and it has its own lower rates.

Hitching a trailer can change what a lorry pays. Since 1 January 2021 a vehicle of 3.5 to 7.5 tonnes pulling a trailer with two or more axles pays the rate for 7.5 to 12 tonnes, and a vehicle of 7.5 to 12 tonnes pulling any trailer pays the rate for 12 tonnes and more.

The rate for each section is its length multiplied by a rate per kilometre set by government regulation No. 240/2014. From 1 January 2026 the rate depends on the road class, the weight band, the number of axles, the EURO class and, since the CO2 component was introduced, the CO2 emission class.

On motorways the 2026 rates run from CZK 0.4574 per km for a zero-emission two-axle vehicle of 3.5 to 7.5 tonnes to CZK 6.8939 for a vehicle of 12 tonnes or more with five or more axles in EURO 0 to IV. First-class roads are charged at their own, separate table.

Registration can be done online, through the customer service line or at a point of sale, with the registration certificate and details including the plate and its country, the weight, the axles and the emission class. The unit itself is always collected in person at a contact or distribution point, where the system operator lends it against a deposit.

In the prepay mode the unit is issued only once at least CZK 1,000 of credit has been paid. Credit can be added at any point of sale in cash, by card or by fuel card, in the customer zone or the mobile app by card, or by bank transfer. Postpay agreements settle by invoice or through a fuel card issuer.

Check the axle setting on the unit before each journey, and when you finish, return the unit to get the deposit and unused credit back.

The portal lists what counts as an offence: using a toll road without an operational unit, with wrong data entered, with an unregistered vehicle, or without paying. The vehicle operator commits a separate offence by letting the vehicle be driven that way. Police and customs officers carry out the checks, and the portal gives no fine amounts.

A toll missed because the unit was absent or not working can be paid afterwards as a supplementary toll, in the customer self-service or at a point of sale.

Report a faulty unit at the nearest contact or distribution point and swap it there, before driving further.
